Unlike traditional smoke alarms, a monitored Smoke & Heat Sensor can notify you through mobile alerts and automatically alert the monitoring center, helping ensure loved ones and pets are protected when you can’t respond yourself.

How It Works

The Smoke & Heat Sensor uses photoelectric technology to detect smoke particles in the air, along with built-in heat detection to monitor for extreme temperatures or rapid increases in heat. When smoke or unsafe heat conditions are detected, the sensor sends a signal to your Frontpoint system, triggering an alarm and alerting the monitoring center.

This dual-detection approach provides broader fire coverage than smoke detection alone.

Placement Tips

Smoke & Heat Sensors are commonly installed in areas such as hallways, kitchens, garages, basements, or utility rooms. Proper placement helps ensure accurate detection while reducing the risk of false alarms. Avoid areas that are excessively dusty, humid, or near ventilation sources.

What Happens During an Alert

When smoke or extreme heat is detected, your system will sound an alarm and notify the monitoring center. If monitoring is active, trained professionals can attempt to contact you and dispatch emergency services if needed — even if you’re unable to call for help yourself.
