Familiar Vehicle

Familiar Vehicle Analytics helps a compatible outdoor camera recognize vehicles you’ve added to your account. You can name up to five vehicles and choose when to receive notifications.

With Familiar Vehicle Analytics, you can

  • Get an alert when a specific familiar vehicle is detected

  • Get an alert when an unknown vehicle is detected

  • Continue receiving alerts for all vehicles if you prefer

  • Filter saved video clips by familiar or unfamiliar vehicles

For example, you could set up an alert for your teen’s car, a regular visitor’s car, or an unknown vehicle entering your driveway. The feature recognizes the vehicle, not the person driving it.

How does it work?

A Video Analytics rule records a clip when your outdoor camera detects a vehicle. You select images from those clips, name the vehicle, and review the images the system asks you to confirm. Once enough images have been confirmed, the camera can begin identifying that vehicle in future clips.

Familiar Vehicle Analytics uses the image captured when the recording rule triggers. For the best results, the camera should have a clear view of the whole vehicle within about 15 feet. Vehicles with the same model and color may be difficult to tell apart.

Which cameras can use it?

Familiar Vehicle Analytics works with compatible Frontpoint outdoor cameras. Doorbell cameras are not supported. See Which cameras support Familiar Vehicle Analytics? for the camera list.

Having trouble?

If a vehicle is identified incorrectly, review its images and add clear photos from different angles or lighting conditions. See Why isn’t Familiar Vehicle Analytics recognizing a vehicle correctly? for more help.
