If you don’t know your Wi-Fi name or password, you may still be able to set up your Wireless Doorbell Camera depending on your router.
Before setting up your Wireless Doorbell Camera, you need to complete the installation for the Smart Chime and add it to your app. Click the step-by-step guide below for instructions.
Check your router for a button that says WPS. If your router has a button with this acronym or an image that looks like one of the images below, you may proceed to the next step.
If your router doesn’t have this feature, please contact your network service provider for your Wi-Fi name and password.
Plug the Smart Chime into an outlet within 10 feet (or 4 physical steps) from the router and wait for the Power LED to change from blinking to solid.
Then, press and hold the “Pairing button” on the side of the Smart Chime until the Pairing LED changes from blinking rapidly to blinking slowly.
After the chime LED is flashing slowly you will have to press and hold the WPS button on the router for 5 seconds. Each router is different, the WPS button could be located on the top, face or back of the router. It may be labeled WPS, or it may have a symbol such as a lock or two arrows going in a circle. Please consult your router’s user guide for more information if needed.
The Smart Chime’s Router LED (or cloud icon) will become solid when the internet connection is successful.
Log into the Frontpoint app on your mobile phone and press “Keep me Logged In” until you complete the setup.
If you are unable to login due to lack of connectivity, the WPS connection was not successfully established in Step 4; please go through the steps again.
Tap the navigation menu (☰).
Select “Add Device”
Select “Doorbell Camera”
Tap “Enter MAC Address” at the bottom of the page and manually enter the Smart Chime’s MAC Address found on the included sticker (or on the back of the Smart Chime), as indicated in green below.
When setup is complete, you will see the screen below:
When firmware updates are available, your Smart Chime will update automatically but it may take an additional 15 minutes to complete setup. (The progress bar will not move along steadily- each update takes a variable amount of time.
If installation fails, press “Retry”- the firmware updates may have caused the installation process to time-out.
NOTE: If an “Upgrade and Install” button appears, click the button to upgrade your device. Wait until the progress bar reaches 100%. Do NOT unplug the device from power while it is performing the firmware update.
If desired, move the Smart Chime closer to the location of the camera(s) you intend to connect with:
Place the Smart Chime no further than 20 feet from your router (or no more than 8 physical steps) and try to place them at a similar height.
Use an outlet that is not controlled by a switch to avoid being turned ON/OFF.
Once the Smart Chime completes booting up (usually 90 seconds), the Smart Chime’s “Router LED” (see page 5) should start blinking. If it does not begin blinking, your Smart Chime is too far from your router; relocate the Smart Chime to an electrical outlet closer to your router.
Once the “Router LED” changes from blinking to solid (after about 2 minutes), the connection is complete.*
Please note that the strength of a connection fluctuates and you may not see a connection issue immediately. If you later experience an issue, simply move the Smart Chime closer to the router.
