To complete the Wireless Doorbell Camera app setup, the Frontpoint Smart Chime must first be installed. If the Smart Chime has not yet been installed, please refer to the manual inside the Smart Chime's box or access a digital version here and follow the steps provided.
To install the Wireless Doorbell Camera on your system, you will need an installed Smart Chime and a mobile phone with the latest version of the Frontpoint app.
To mount the Wireless Doorbell Camera you will need the components included in the box, a power drill, a drill bit (either 1/8" or 1/4” if using wall anchors), and a pencil. If you also have a level and
measuring tape, it will help.
Activate the Wireless Doorbell Camera’s battery:
Detach the battery from the Wireless Doorbell Camera by sliding it downwards, away from the rest of the camera body.
Peel off the blue film from the top of the battery.
Reattach the battery onto the camera’s body
The Wireless Doorbell Camera will boot up, and the LED will start flashing red.*
*If the LED doesn’t start flashing, recharge the camera's battery.
When the doorbell’s LED stops flashing red, the boot-up process is complete.
Grab your phone and log into the Frontpoint app on your mobile phone, selecting “Keep me Logged In” until setup is complete.
Tap on the navigation menu in the corner of the Frontpoint app.
Select “Add Device”
Select “Doorbell Camera”
Select “ADC-VDB780B”
Follow the on-screen instructions to add the Wireless Doorbell Camera to your account.
The first step will ask you to hold down the Doorbell button for 45+ seconds until
it finishes flashing blue and begins flashing white*- don’t forget this step!
*If the button LED won’t begin flashing blue, recharge the camera's battery.
When selecting the final network for your Wireless Doorbell Camera after connecting to ADC-VDB780B (XX:XX:XX), choose “Chime (XX:XX:XX)” listed at the top of the page under “Access Points”. (The X’s are indicative of the device’s unique MAC address and will vary.)
*Do not copy Wi-fi from another camera device and do not select your home Wi-Fi network- either of these will result in a failure.
When the doorbell button LED turns solid green, the Wireless Doorbell Camera has successfully connected to the Smart Chime!

When firmware updates are available, your camera will update automatically but it may take an additional 15 minutes to complete setup. The progress bar will not move along steadily- each update will take a variable amount of time.
Choose a mounting location for your Wireless Doorbell Camera- our security experts recommend the side of a door frame. Because this camera is battery-powered, an existing doorbell is not necessary.
For most doorways, a position approximately 4 feet above the ground provides the best field of view.
Once you’ve chosen your preferred placement, hold the Wireless Doorbell Camera against the Standard Mounting Bracket in the desired location, while opening the Frontpoint app.
Check the Live View of the Wireless Doorbell Camera to ensure you are satisfied with the field of view. Make sure you can see low enough for where packages would be placed and high enough for where faces would be seen.
To check Live View, tap “Doorbell Camera” in the navigation menu of the Frontpoint app and tap the play button in the video window to view live video.
Reposition your Wireless Doorbell Camera as needed until you are satisfied with the field of view.
If your doorway is on top of steps or you otherwise need to angle the camera a bit more downwards, try holding the Optional Mounting Wedge behind the camera instead of the bracket to see if that improves the view.
Once settled on a location and whether you’ll be using the Optional Mounting Wedge, proceed to the next step.
Hold the Standard Mounting Bracket at the predetermined location. If possible, use a level to confirm the mount is parallel with the ground.
Use a pencil to mark where the two screws will go.
Once marked, you can set aside the Standard Mounting Bracket until Step 4.
Prepare your power drill and drill into each of the 2 marked locations on the wall, depending on your mounting surface:
If screwing into drywall or brick, it’s recommended to
use a 1/4” drill bit.
If screwing into wood, use a 1/8” drill bit.
Not sure which to use? Use the 1/4” drill bit.
Insert the included anchors into the screw holes if you used a 1/4” drill bit. If you used the smaller drill bit, the anchors will not be necessary.
Position the Standard Mounting Bracket so its 2 holes align with the 2 screw holes. (If installing the Optional Wedge insert it against the wall now so its 2 holes align with the 2 screw holes and place the Standard Mounting Bracket so the 4 small holes align with the 4 small holes on the Optional Wedge.
Use your power drill to screw in the included screws, fastening the Standard Mounting Bracket to the wall.
If using the Optional Wedge, attach the Standard Mounting Bracket with the 4 mini screws by screwing them in by hand until secure
Attach the Wireless Doorbell to the mounting bracket by aligning the prongs on the back of the Doorbell with the 4 rectangular slots on the mount.
Push the Wireless Doorbell into the slots and slide down, until the camera clicks into place.
Slide the latch to the left on the bottom of the bracket to lock and secure the Wireless Doorbell in place.
